Nigeria’s Muhammed-Bande emerged President of the 74th UN General Assembly

Amb. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, has been voted President of the 74th UN General Assembly.


Muhammad-Bande, who is the only candidate for the position, was chosen on Tuesday via acclamation at the 87th plenary meeting of the UN Assembly in New York.


With this appointment, Bande become the 2nd Nigerian after Joseph Garba, a retired army officer, to hold the respected office.


Report reaching us is that his inauguration will be on September.
