Quit offering our men bribes – FRSC alerts Nigerian vehicle drivers
The Federal Road Safety Corps has advised motorists to stop offering bribe to men of the Corps. Imoh Etuk, the new Zonal Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, gave the warning in an interview with newsmen when he went on a familiarization visit to the Commander in charge of Bauchi sector of FRSC.
According to him, bribe has made men of the Corps corrupt and have damage the image of FRSC.
“I charged them to be more visible on the highway, to eschew all forms of corruption and to ensure that issues of overloading are nipped in the bud. Just yesterday (Tuesday), the Vice President (Yemi Osinbajo) said nobody should give bribe to FRSC, to Police and so on.
“I’m also saying that don’t bribe our men. Do the needful. You don’t need to be bribing our people, do the needful and you’ll not run foul of the law. It is when you are deficient that you’ll want to use money.
“Don’t use money to do anything because the anti-corruption squad of the Corps will go out to ensure that these things are properly monitored. I am warning them to obey the traffic rules rather than using money especially during this Ramadan.”
Assistant Corps Marshall, Imoh Etuk also said that the Bauchi-Gombe roads which is now regarded as a death traps with series of accident occuring there on daily basis will soon be reduced to the barest minimum.
