Court Orders Arrest of Ex-Enugu Governor, Chimaroke Nnamani

The former governor had failed to appear before the court to defend a money laundering charge.

A bench warrant for the arrest of Ex-governor of Enugu State, Chimaroke Nnamani by a Lagos division of the Federal High Court has been issued.

Due to his failure to appear before the court for a N4.5 billion money laundering charge, Justice Chuka Obiozor during the ruling on Monday, 4th December 2017, ordered the arrest of Chimaroke Nnamani.

Though his lawyer argued that his failure to appear was because he recently underwent a heart surgery in the United States of America but the prosecuting council countered his lawyer’s evidence to the court, arguing that his surgery pictures presented as evidence were taken as far back as 2014.

Since Nnamani’s lawyer failed to provide reasonable evidence to the court the judge ruled the case and ordered his arrest.
