The PCRRU which was established by the Nigeria Police Force in November 2015, with a mandate to receive and resolve cases of professional misconduct brought against its officers has upheld this mandate truly.
The Police Rapid Response Unit, PCRRU, working together with the Inspector General Police X-Squad, arrested an Assistant Superintendent of Police attached to the Lagos State Police Command for extortion and misconduct, which was approved by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.
ASP Bayo Obadiah, seconded by the Ikorodu Area Command, has suspended with immediate effect ASP Abayomi Shogunle, this was brought to the notice of the public in a report in Abuja, yesterday by the Head of PCRRU. He added that Police authorities had also sanctioned 15 other officers for professional misconduct across the country, starting from July to September, 2017. Shogunle also said that within the period under check, the unit had recovered and returned N834, 000 collected from members of the public.
Due to the state of things, efforts were ongoing to improve the PCRRU call centre so as to enhance efficiency.
