The Akwa Ibom state Commissioner for Investment, Commerce and Industry, Professor Eno Blankson Ikpe has died after a protracted illness. She was a native of Etinan Local Government Area of the state, and had an illustrious career in the education sector, serving as Director, Centre for Cultural Studies; Head, Department of History and International Studies; Vice Dean, Faculty of Arts; Dean, Faculty of Arts; Adjunct Professor, Akwa Ibom State University. The deceased also worked at the University of Lagos, University of Uyo, and the University of Magdeburg in Germany.
In a press statement signed by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Charles Udoh, on Thursday, November 9, 2017, in honour of the deceased, His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel and the entire Akwa Ibom State Executive Council, has directed that all flags in the state be flown at half-mast until further notice.
He expressed how sad and heavy the heart of the entire government of Akwa Ibom felt about the passing away of an “ICON” Professor Eno Blankson Ikpe. She passed away on the 8 of November 2017. The funeral arrangement will be announced to the general public after consultations with family members.
