How PDP Tried To Influence 2015 Elections – Prof. Jega

Former chairman of INEC, Prof. A. Jega, revealed that former President Goodluck Jonathan administration and PDP, tried to influence 2015 election by opposing the use of electronic card readers.

He cited how Jonathan’s administration did everything to hinder INEC decision to use Card readers for the elections. Prof. Jega went on to say that INEC resisted them from having their ways.

Jega also commended the administration of Jonathan which he said meant well for Nigeria’s democracy and have never defaulted when it comes to granting INEC financial requests. Goodluck Jonathan government never suspected INEC of fraud but trusted the body.

During the run-up to 2015 election, the government of Jonathan and PDP tried to interfere with INEC decision by making effort to stop the body from using electronic card readers. Jega who revealed to Jamie Hitchen of Africa Research Institute, that INEC body resisted every attempt coming from the ruling party to stop the use of electronic card reader and went on to remind them that they accepted the proposal when presented to them and also funded it.
