Federal University of Petroleum Resources Bill Signed into Law

President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, signed into law the Bill establishing the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, FUPRE, Effurun, Delta State.

The President pledged his continue support for the socio-economic development of the Niger Delta region in a brief ceremony at the presidential Villa. According to Malam Garba Shehu Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity; “This administration is fully committed to supporting the Niger Delta in its endeavour’s to achieve socio-economic development.” Quoted the president.

Mr. President pleaded with all the communities in the region to strive for peace through dialogue in resolving conflicts among them. Owing to the signing of this bill into law a path is cleared for the establishment of a Standard University in the Niger Delta that will be in charge of training and research in petroleum technology. Having in mind that the Federal Government in the year 2006 under the leadership of former President Olusegun Obasanjo approved the upgrading of the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Effurun into a degree awarding institute.
